How to Mark a Category or Subcategory as Out of Stock

Modified on Mon, 19 Aug at 10:13 AM

Often, when essential raw materials are unavailable, restaurants may find themselves unable to serve specific item categories. For instance, if pizza bases are out of stock, the restaurant cannot offer any type of pizza. In such situations, it's advisable to mark entire categories as "out of stock."

Here's How to Mark a Category or Subcategory as Out of Stock:

  • - Log in to eCMS as a store manager.

  • - Navigate to the Menu → Category Section.

  • - Choose or search for the category or subcategory you want to mark as out of stock on SmartWeb (SW).

  • - You will find a setup similar to item stockouts.

  • - Once you've selected the desired option - {Today, Until Restocked, Custom} - that specific stockout category will appear grayed out, and all items and subcategories within that category will be marked as sold out.

Note: If any item or subcategory belongs to multiple categories, and at least one of the mapped categories is marked as out of stock, the user should still be able to find the subcategory or item in search results, provided that at least one of the categories it belongs to is in stock.
