Create Category

A Category is a group of items, put together to help customer understand and zoom into a specific type of food items. You will need to create a category, and a sub-category to assign and item to these for the items to be visible to the customer for ordering. 

If you are using the Menu Editor to create your menu, follow these steps:

1. Login to eCMS
   
2. Go to the 'Menu' Tab
   
   
3. You will see the Menu Editor with the categories listed on the left hand side of the screen. Click on the '+ New Category' button to create a new category
   
   
4. For quick add of Category, enter the category name and click 'Save'
   Alternatively, click on 'More Options' to enter all necessary information of a category
   
   
5. Proceed to add all details related to the category here. You are encouraged to fill in all the details specified in the below screenshot to achieve full menu completion. A complete menu is informative for customers and boosts sales
   
   1. Add an image for the category of specs specified. This image will be displayed adjacent to the category name to the customer on SmartWeb or SmartKiosk
      
      
   2. Add an image for the banner of the category of specs specified. This image will be displayed adjacent to the category name to the customer on SmartKiosk
      
      
   3. Add name (in english) of the category
      
      
   4. Select the menu tiers in which this category should appear. You may choose more than 1 menu tiers from the dropdown
      
      
   5. Select the default status of the category upon creation - whether it should be 'Displayed' or 'Hidden' once created *
      
      
   6. Move on to the 'Translations' tab to add translations of the category name in the languages supported 
      
      *NOTE: You can always change the status after the category has been created.
      
      
6. Click 'Save' to save and complete category creation

If you are not using the Menu Editor to create a category, follow these steps:

1. On the navigation pane, select Menu > Categories

2. On the Categories tab, click Add Category + button

3. Add New Category form will be displayed

4. On Category Name in English field, input category name (e.g., Beverages, Kids Meal, Chinese New Year, etc)

5. On Status field, select category’s Status

6. If the selected status is ‘Show’, then category will be shown on menu
7. Else, if the selected status is ‘Hide’, category will be not shown on menu
8. Click Save button to add category
