SmartPay Terminal: WeChat Pay and PayNow QR code

Introduction

The SmartPay Terminal now supports QR code payment methods with WeChat Pay and PayNow QR code. Merchants can efficiently accept payments through WeChat Pay and PayNow, enhancing the customer payment experience and streamlining the payment process.


This guide will walk you through the merchant journey and the process of initiating QR code payments using the SmartPay Terminal.


Merchant Journey:

  • Onboarding Section:

    • Open the SmartPay Terminal app on the Sunmi Device V2S Pro and access the login screen.

    • After a successful sign-in, the merchant can set up the SmartPay Terminal, including options for receipt printing and payment information notes.

    • Once the device is configured, the authorization process takes place, allowing the merchant to proceed to the Payment Section.

  • Payment Initiation (Standalone):

    • The merchant starts a transaction by entering the transaction amount into the payment terminal.
      To accept payment via QR code, the merchant selects the "more" option.

    • Customers can then choose to pay using either WeChat Pay or Paynow through a contactless payment method.



  • QR Code Present & Payment Status Checking:

    • The SmartPay Terminal displays the QR code and the available apps that support the specific QR code payment.

    • Customers scan the QR code using their mobile devices and complete the payment through WeChat Pay or Paynow.

    • After making the payment, customers share the payment confirmation with the merchant.

    • To verify the payment status, the merchant clicks on "Check payment status" in the SmartPay Terminal.

  • Payment Authorization:

    • The SmartPay Terminal communicates with the payment processor (Stripe) to authorize the transaction, ensuring that the customer has sufficient funds for payment.

    • The payment processor conducts a fraud check to validate the legitimacy of the transaction.

    • Once the payment is authorized, the payment terminal displays a confirmation message on the screen and prints out a receipt for the customer.

    • The merchant can then provide the customer with the purchased goods or services.

    • The payment status is shown as pending, success, or failed, depending on the outcome.

  • Customer Receipt:

    • After a successful payment, the merchant provides a payment receipt to the customer, confirming the transaction.
